Dragon truffles sit in the middle to upper part of Dutch-Smart's strength scale, but that position is a shop classification, not a measurement. No laboratory figures for Dragon's Dynamite or Dutch Dragons have been published, by the shop or by anyone else. This page sets out what the rating says, where it contradicts itself, and why it is still useful if you read it as a rough order.
What the shop says
Dutch-Smart places its truffles on a scale from entry level to heavy. For the two Dragon strains, the shop's own pages say the following (checked on 10 October 2026):
| Product | Shop rating | Source on the shop's site |
|---|---|---|
| Mexicana, Tampanensis | milder, entry level | Dragon's Dynamite product page |
| Dragon's Dynamite | "medium-strong", "stronger than Mexicana and Tampanensis" | Dragon's Dynamite product page |
| Dutch Dragons | "very potent", "intended for experienced users" | Dutch Dragons product page |
| Both Dragon strains | "the same mid-range category" | FAQ on the Dragon's Dynamite page |
| Hollandia, Space Invaders | "heavier varieties" | Dragon's Dynamite product page |
| Valhalla, High Hawaiians | named with Hollandia and Space Invaders as better choices for people used to strong strains | FAQ on the Dragon's Dynamite page |
Two points stand out. Dutch Dragons is called very potent on its own page and mid-range in the FAQ of its sister product. And the shop admits that experienced users find a full pack of Dragon's Dynamite relatively mild. A rating that shifts with the person reading it describes experience. It contains no chemistry.
What a rating like this is based on
Dutch-Smart does not publish how its scale is put together, and no lab values come with it. The only basis the product pages mention is experience: what users report. That still has some value. If many people find that one strain hits harder than another at the same weight, the order is probably right more often than wrong. It gives you an order without a number, and it says nothing about the pack in your hand.
DRUGSinfo, run by the Trimbos Institute, puts the general problem plainly: the strength of truffles and mushrooms can vary a lot, which makes them harder to dose than many other drugs (DRUGSinfo).
What the one lab study shows
The only peer-reviewed measurement of psilocybin in truffles that we know of found 59.3 to 167.8 micrograms per 100 milligrams of fresh sclerotia, roughly 0.6 to 1.7 mg per gram (Pellegrini et al., 2013). The samples were not Dragon truffles, and the study is small. Its useful lesson is the spread: the strongest sample held almost three times as much psilocybin as the weakest.
Applied to a 15 gram pack, that range would mean anywhere between about 9 and 25 mg of psilocybin. Nobody knows where Dragon's Dynamite or Dutch Dragons fall within it, or whether they fall within it at all. The calculation shows why weighing grams is only half of dosing: the same weight can carry very different amounts of the active compound.
Why one pack can differ from the next
Truffles are a grown product, and the one lab study above already shows wide differences between samples. Nothing has been published about how much Dragon packs vary from one batch to the next, so a pack that felt strong last month tells you little for certain about the pack you buy today. The shop's storage advice, keeping unopened packs in the fridge at 2 to 4 °C until the date on the package, is partly about keeping that content as stable as possible.
How to use the rating
- Read it as an order. Dragon's Dynamite is above the entry-level strains. Dutch Dragons is at least as strong, and the shop's own wording points higher.
- Plan for the strongest reading. Where the shop gives two answers, dose as if the stronger one is true.
- Start low with every new strain and every new pack. Even with experience on other truffles, a Dragon strain is new to your body the first time. See dosage.
- Do not judge strength in the first hour. Effects can take up to 90 minutes to arrive. A pack that seems weak at 45 minutes is often not weak at all.
- Ignore character labels when choosing a dose. Whether a strain is sold as energetic or introspective tells you nothing about how much to take (what Dragon truffles are).
Strongest is not a goal
Search engines are full of questions about the strongest magic truffles. A stronger truffle means more effect per gram and less margin for error. Higher doses increase every part of the acute experience, the difficult parts included (Haijen et al., 2018). The useful question is how much of a given strain gives the experience you want, and that is what the dosage page is for.
